Weather Cancels FAMILY VALUES Show In New York

September 3, 2006

According to a posting on the KORN fan site Korn.Simpol.net, The Family Values Tour 2006 — featuring headliners KORN alongside DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, FLYLEAF and DIR EN GREY — was forced to cancel last night's (September 2) performance at Nikon @ Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York due to bad weather.

Reports from fans attending the show are that rain washed the venue out, forcing organizers to send concert-goers home.

According to one BLABBERMOUTH.NET reader, Vinny, who attended the show, "It started at 2:00 p.m., then the people at Jones Beach stoped the show at 4:00 p.m. because of rain. Now on the ticket it says 'rain or shine.' Anyway, they said it would be delayed until 7:30 p.m., so we all waited around 'till then in the rain for them to tell us the show was off."

Another disappointed fan stated on the tour's official community forums, "I heard from people coming out that the orchestra seating was flooded knee deep, [and] only three bands had played short sets.

"DIR EN GREY just totally walked off after five minutes due to failing equipment."

Fourteen people were arrested at a Family Values stop in East Troy, Wisconsin on August 26. Three were charged with resisting arrest, two with disorderly conduct, and most of the others with possession of either drugs or drug paraphernalia. A man was charged last month with murder and assault after fatally beating a concertgoer at the Family Values show in Atlanta, Georgia on July 30.
